AEK Larnaca has recently bolstered its coaching staff with the addition of Gal Barshan as assistant coach. Barshan, who started this season as the head coach of Hapoel Kfar Saba before his departure, will now be part of an Israeli coaching team at AEK Larnaca, alongside head coach Ran Ben Shimon.
Barshan, aged 34, has already arrived in Cyprus and signed his contract with the club. His first game on the sidelines with Ben Shimon was scheduled against Anorthosis Famagusta.
Ran Ben Shimon, appointed as head coach of AEK Larnaca three weeks ago, welcomed Barshan to the team, marking a new phase in the club’s management. Ben Shimon is already familiar with the Cypriot league, having coached in Larnaca previously.
AEK Larnaca, currently in seventh place in the Cypriot First Division with 19 points after 12 rounds, is looking to improve its position under this new Israeli-led coaching team. The team faced Maccabi Tel Aviv earlier this season in the Conference League qualifiers, indicating their competitive level on the European stage.
This appointment marks a significant step in Barshan’s career, coming after his successful stint with Hapoel Kfar Saba’s youth team and his brief tenure with the senior team. His new role at AEK Larnaca is a testament to his evolving coaching career and an opportunity to make an impact in Cypriot football
