Moussa Sissoko, born on August 16, 1989, is a French professional footballer known for his robust box-to-box midfield presence. Capable of playing in various roles—including holding midfield, attacking midfield, right winger, and even right-back—Sissoko brings a wealth of experience and versatility to Watford’s squad.
Sissoko began his career in the Île-de-France region, playing for local youth clubs such as Espérance Aulnay and Red Star, before moving to Toulouse in 2002. He made his professional debut in the 2007-08 season and quickly established himself, helping Toulouse qualify for the UEFA Europa League and earning award nominations for his performances.
In January 2013, Sissoko transferred to Newcastle United for €2.5 million, where he continued to build his reputation. Following Newcastle’s relegation, he moved to Tottenham Hotspur in 2016 for €35 million. At Tottenham, Sissoko reached the 2019 UEFA Champions League final and finished as runner-up in the 2016-17 Premier League season.
After leaving Tottenham in 2021, Sissoko joined Watford for a season before moving to Nantes in 2022 for €2 million. At Nantes, he made 26 appearances in the 2023-24 Ligue 1 season, contributing significantly to the team’s midfield, and played a role in the Coupe de France and UEFA Europa League campaigns.
