Inter Miami Continues Roster Overhaul: Matias Rojas Set to Join Squad

Inter Miami undergoes further changes to their roster as they prepare for the upcoming MLS season. In a swift series of moves, the club has traded right back DeAndre Yedlin to FC Cincinnati and transferred midfielder Jean Mota to Brazilian team Vitoria. These transactions have resulted in the clearance of more than $1.5 million in salary for Inter Miami. Additionally, the club received $172,799 in General Allocation Money from Cincinnati for Yedlin and a reported transfer fee of $350,000 from Vitoria for Mota.

The departure of Yedlin, Mota, and previously Gregore has freed up significant salary space for the club, totaling roughly $3 million. Inter Miami aims to utilize this budget to acquire new players and strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. One imminent addition is Paraguayan national team midfielder Matias Rojas, with the club finalizing a deal with him. Rojas, 28, is expected to sign with Inter Miami in the coming days.

Rojas, who recently became a free agent after leaving Brazilian club Corinthians due to a contract dispute, brings experience and versatility to Inter Miami’s midfield. He has also garnered interest from other clubs such as Argentine side Boca Juniors and various Mexican teams but ultimately opted to join Inter Miami.

Throughout his career, Rojas has showcased his talent with stints at clubs like Cerro Porteno in Paraguay, Lanus and Defensa y Justicia in Argentina, and Racing Club. He has also represented the Paraguay national team, making his debut in 2019 and earning a call-up for the 2019 Copa América.

Inter Miami’s roster overhaul reflects their commitment to building a competitive team for the upcoming season. With Rojas set to join the squad, the club looks to maintain their early success in the Eastern Conference, where they currently sit in first place with two wins and a tie. Their next challenge awaits as they face Nashville SC in the Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16 before returning home to Chase Stadium to take on Montreal.
